|
Special thanks to February 15 speaker
CASEY WILSON, Administrator, RS, BSN,
Ambassadors Caregivers.
His well received topic, "Home Health,
Hospice, and Home Care", featured a
discussion of appropriate strategies, potential
payer sources, and different ways to navigate
the systems involved in caring for
clients/patients. He is seen here with
VICTORIA BRYANT, PharmD, and
President of Ambassadors Caregivers, our
February 15, 2011 meeting sponsor.
Many thanks to our April 19, 2011 speaker, LAURIE M.
GLAZE, LMSW, Executive Director, Texas One Voice: A
Collaborative for Health and Human Services. It was a
well attended program of great interest. Ms. Glaze is
shown left with HACOC President HONEY LEVEEN.
"Back in the Hospital?" was a realistic
assessment of transitional care into the
community, presented by experts
LYNDA COLLINS, Director of
Continuity of Care, Methodist Hospital
(left), and JANE BAVINEAU, Executive
Director of Care for Elders. We thank
them for their enlightenment on this
topic.
Sincere appreciation goes to May 17, 2011 presenter TOMMY THOMPSON,
Executive Vice President of CanCare, Inc. (shown center) His topic,
"Powerful Tools for the Caregiver," was most applicable to both family and
professional caregivers in recognizing sources of stress and means to survive
it. His Point Point on “Identifying and Reducing Personal Stress”
successfully engaged the audience with humor and relevance. Special thanks
go to the May 17 Meeting Sponsor: ENCORE CAREGIVERS

offered a fine program on
Evidence Based and Research
Inspired design principles that
work toward healthy Interiors for
human comfort, high function, and
beauty. A colorful slide
presentation illustrated how
"interiors can help people maintain
independence and how the right
environment can help lift and heal
the spirit." Diane teaches at the
Art Institute of Houston and can

Appreciation goes to June 21, 2011 speakers Dick
Humphrey and Ana Schick, Board of Director and
Executive Director of Interface Samaritan Counseling
Centers. Their presentation on “POWERFUL TOOLS
FOR CAREGVERS: When Additional Tools should be
Considered” focused on "Where these tools came from,
how they got here, and how they help Caregivers". Both
family and professional caregivers benefited from their
concepts. Shown from left: Gillian Hill of The Plaza at
The Buckingham (monthly corporate sponsor), Dick

A special HACOC THANK YOU
goes to our August 16, 2011
speaker, PAUL HOPE (right).
After many years with the Alley
Theatre, as part of its resident
company, Paul began Bayou City
Concert Musicals (BCCM), now
going strong after 12 years. It
stages classic, under-performed
American musicals, with all
proceeds donated to charity. Paul
offered a fascinating history of the
company and gave us exciting
glimpses into their production of
Finian’s Rainbow, scheduled for
September 8-11, 2011 at the Heinen
Theatre. See their website for
complete details.
ROBIN MILLER, of Veterans
Financial, offered a fine program
